When should I replace my windows?

Written by | Return to Latest News

Most of us inherit our windows from the previous homeowner and if we’re lucky, the windows are perfectly fine. However, for various reasons, it may be worth considering having them replaced. If the windows are more than 10 years old, are damaged, leaking air, cold or just not functioning their best, it may be time to think about replacing them.

The benefits of replacing your windows

Other than the obvious purpose of letting in light, your windows should also keep your home secure, free from drafts and block out most noise from the outside. Technology and techniques have moved on over the last 10 years and you now have a lot more options of how you glaze your home. At Turkington, we have thought about the options that are important to our customers.

This starts with security. We can offer options on secure locking gear, glass, door upgrades and additional safety features such as child proof locks.

Many people see that a main benefit of replacing your old double-glazed windows can include reducing your energy bills. Modern double glazing and triple glazing are much more energy efficient helping to trap heat in your home. Add this to tight locking and a professional 4 part installation you will feel the benefits immediately.

Varied and bespoke window options

At Turkington, we offer windows in PVC, aluminium and seamless glazing. This means you can work with our designers and produce windows and doors bespoke to your home and your needs. You will have a choice of system, colours, glazing and design options. Our well-equipped showrooms let you see these ‘in the flesh’ and our experienced teams will help you at every step of the way. Have a look at our essential window buying checklist for more details.

Our windows and doors come with our 10-year guarantee and as with anything, regular checks and cleaning will ensure you get the most out of your windows’ lifespan.
